Arizona Safe Baby Haven Law has recently been in the news in the state of Arizona, with the event of the baby left outside of a church, and the young girl that left a newborn in the garbage of a girls bathroom at a school. What I'm sure you are not aware of is that Arizona Safe Baby Haven Law has a foundation that was created to help educate women about the law, and their options, if ever in a situation of having a baby that was unwanted.

The law states that an unwanted newborn can be taken to a police station, hospital, fire station, or participating churches. The mother has up to 72 hours to change her mind, and as long as the child was unharmed, no charges will be pressed.

The foundation is a non-state funded foundation, and they are struggling to stay alive. With no funding and very little help in getting the word/education out about a law...that does save newborns from being thrown into dumpsters. Their cause saves lives, BUT very few people know much about them or the specifics about the law. Finances are so bad that they recently lost their website and can't even afford to get an educational brochure printed, that is already designed.

Captured Miracles is making Arizona Safe Baby Haven a direct focus for 2008 -2009, in helping them get more financial support and at the same time hoping that this will help create awareness and support of their cause and "Baby Safe Haven's" all over the United States.
Although there have not been numerous reports of a baby found in the garbage recently, this does not mean it has not happened...it just means they have not been found.

This photo from the collection was inspired by AZBaby Safe Haven. It is called "I AM" the poem on the picture was created and donated by a Cristina Rankin of Phoenix, Arizona.  She wrote this poem in hopes it would inspire others to make a difference in the lives of "unwanted children" around the world.

Email from  Cristina Rankin, sharing her story about these little angels

"Dear Helen,
Not sure exactly how to go about this but. It seems like it may be right up your alley with the different children's organizations that you are working with so I thought I would throw it out there & see what you thought. I wrote this down in the middle of the night about a week ago after watching a documentary that upset me. It was about the war in the Congo and the horrible things that were happening to the women there. but it was the children born of rape that upset me the most. Children who started out life unwanted with this horrible stigma attached to them. After showing what I had written to my 11 year old son,we decided that these words applied to children right here at home and across the world.

"I AM"

I AM NOT THE EXPERIENCE NOR ACTIONS OF MY PARENTS

IT MATTERS NOT HOW I BECAME

BUT THAT I AM

I AM COURAGE

I AM COMPASSION

I AM HOPE

I AM STRONG........I AM HERE

YOU CANNOT DEFINE ME AS I CHOOSE WHO I BECOME

I AM THE FUTURE
