"BE YE NOT AFRAID"

When I created "Be Ye Not Afraid", I wanted to create something that any child could relate to. All of us can relate to this print, especially when we were a child scared in our bed at night. Scared of what exactly? That was different for each of us. For some it was as innocent as a bad dream or being afraid of the dark. For other children, it was laying in bed as they heard their parents fighting in the next room or even as horrible as fearing the abuse that they would received on a regular basis.

One thing is the same for all of these children. No matter what the fear was caused by, each of them can feel Christ's arms wrapped around them to help them have courage and to know they are not alone. I want children to see this print because I know it will help them see how real this protection and love is. That each child is so important in HIS eyes. That HE loves them and knows personally what they feel and are going through.

CM Trivia About "BE YE NOT AFRAID"

I had perfectly scheduled every shoot for the day so that I could catch the right lighting for each shot. I had a couple of indoor shots, this being one of them. I thought that we would be in and out quickly and ready to move on to the next location where I had 2 shoots of 15 kids waiting. That morning I had prayed that I had done all I could do to be prepared and asked that God would guide me so that everything would work out the way it should. That if things went wrong or got delayed I would not stress or get upset but have faith in knowing that it was God helping us to be in the right spots at the right time.

We started the indoor shoot and suddenly the lighting equipment was giving me problems and we had to mess with is for 30 mins, but I was not expecting what happened next. My sweet "little brother and sister" models would not even go close to Jason (model playing Christ) They thought that he really was Christ. Their mom and I tried everything, but they would not even look at him, let alone lean against him in the bed. Before coming to the shoot their mom, Agnes, was asked by neighbor last minute to watch her son. For 20 mins. this little boy had come along to the shoot and was watching while we were going through this dilemma. Suddenly this little boy, who was a couple of years older then the little children, started talking with the little ones and said that he would sit with Christ on the bed to show them that it was not scary. As the little children watched this, they got a little braver and the little boy got them to sit with him and Jason together. Within 5 mins. the little boy said to me. "I think they will be ok now. Im going to get out so you can take their picture." He was right, they were fine, still a little scared, but that was great cause that is what I wanted in the shot as their expression.

This delayed us by 1 hour in our shooting schedule, I was so worried because I had so many people waiting for us. But that all worked out too. Many had gotten lost finding the location and the spot that I was going to be shooting ended up having better lighting for the shoot then what I had originally planned. In fact, that delay pushed all our shoots that day back and hour and set ALL for the locations up with better lighting. God always does know better then we do what is best. This was a great example to me, even when things seem to be happening for the worse, really they are being set up for something better then we could ever imagine. I still need to make sure that I do the work and that I am prepared, but as long as I am prepared and listening and open to his guidance he will always have it turn out better then I could do it on my own.

Story Behind our Featured Print
"CHILD OF GOD"

This is one of my favorite prints of the whole collection. What a tender, intimate moment between Christ and this precious "Child of God". When I did the Captured Miracle's shoots the one thing that sticks out in my mind the most is this very shot. Along with "Watching over My Children", they were the first shots of the whole collection. Before I started that morning I prayed for guidance, that the spirit would be there to guide everyone involved. I knew that I had everything prepared, and that the rest was up to God. When my model, Jason, first came out in his robes, there was a peacefulness about his whole being, it was not the Jason I knew, but someone different. You can see it in this shot especially. I love that not only can you see the tenderness in this shot but you feel it.

One fun bit of fun CM Trivia: this little one is Jason's (model) own 3 week old baby.

Unconditional Love

Helen Robson - Sunday, October 11, 2009
FUN STORY ABOUT THE MAKING OF THE PRINT
What I never expected, when shooting Captured Miracles, was the reaction of children to my model who played Christ. Most of the children really thought that they were with Christ. Some were a little scared and others were way excited. All my Downs children were so excited to be with Christ. They looked at him with admiring and loving eyes. They loved hugging him and giggling with him. To them they were with "Christ". It was amazing to watch.

If you have ever taken pictures of children, I'm sure you can imagine what it is like to get a group of children, that are excited, to listen to instruction for a shot. I finally gave up and just let them do what they do, which is were the magic came. The funniest part was my sister-in-law Marisa and her boyfriend Joe.(couple in the upper left corner of the shot) While I was shooting and giving instructions, Marisa kept kissing her boyfriend on the cheek. In fact, I later looked at the shots and there was only a handful that she was not kissing Joe. I kept shouting out "Marisa, look at Jesus! Marisa, Stop kissing Joe and look at Jesus...Marisa...kiss Jesus!!" The next day she came up to me so sad, with her head down, and said. "Helen, I'm so sorry I was kissing Joe and not looking as Jesus". It was so sweet. I couldn't help but was giggle and smile inside.

"UNCONDITIONAL LOVE" ... Reason Behind The Name
The reason I titled this photo "Unconditional Love" is because, As I mentioned earlier, the young lady in the upper left hand corner of Unconditional Love is my sister-in-law Marisa. When my husband and I were first married, one thing I noticed right away was his little sister Marisa, who has Down Syndrome, her "Unconditional Love" for everyone that she met. Always greeting everyone she meets with a big smile and in almost every case a huge, and wanting everyone to feel love. As I got to know her friends who were downs as well, I saw that they were all had that same Unconditional Love for everyone. How perfect to have them laughing and hugging Christ, someone else who has "Unconditional Love" to all.
