Homes of the Founding Fathers

07/14/11 | Category: Photoshoot | No Comments »

I love learning and seeing anything that helps me to connect more with our founding fathers…making them more real to me. I know that is one reason why I wanted to do a fine art PHOTOGRAPHY collection. Seeing a “photo” instead of a painting of these events helps my brain to see the realness of it all. Even if it is just a re-enactment. When I ran across these links I got so excited. Seeing and learning about where they lived…their homes and personal property…gives you a sneak peak to the real them. Its another way of helping to bring it more to life.

Hope you enjoy these links as much as I have.

ART, MUSIC and LITERATURE Talent Search

07/13/11 | Category: Photoshoot | No Comments »

We at Captured Miracles are expanding our vision by adding new collections, books and performances that will bring unity, love and strengthen our nation through family, faith, and freedom.

We are currently looking for talent in the categories of Faith and Family

Family

Strong and loving family units play a huge role in the strength, love and unity of the communities we live in. That in turn reflects on our nation as a whole. We are looking for art, music and literature (short stories, books, screen plays, performances) that will help to convey this message and be a power force in the love, unity and strengthening of our families, communities and nation.

Faith

We at Captured Miracles do not promote any one religion, we do encourage individuals and families to find a faith that fits them and their families and to become actively engaged in it as well as in their communities. Serving others and making a difference in the lives of all around them.

Our focus is to show that all those whom believe in a creator have more in common then they may think. Benjamin Franklin outlines what is referred to as “The American Religion”, in writings to Yale President, Ezra Stiles.

“… Here is my Creed: (Ben Franklin wrote)

-I believe in one God, Creator of the Universe.

-That He governs it by his Providence.

-That he ought to be worshiped.

-That the most acceptable Service we can render to him, is doing Good to his other Children.

-That the Soul of Man is immortal, and will be treated with Justice in another Life respecting its Conduct in this.

These I take to be the fundamental Principles of all sound Religion, and I regard them as you do, in whatever Sect I meet with them.”

Our Battle Cry is “Let us put aside our differences and come together as believers in a Creator. That we are a moral people and a nation united under God, with the abilities to create miracles”

We want to have a collection of art, music and literature that inspires us all in our individual faiths and builds bridges of understanding and unity.

“The Miracle of A Hard Working Daddy”

05/29/11 | Category: Photoshoot | No Comments »

My husband had been working long hours to provide for our family. While I was cooking dinner, he went to spend time with the kids and play with them in their room. After a while it seemed weird I could hear the kids but not him. I went to investigate and found this….

I’m a so grateful for the miracle of a hard working, loving, amazing Daddy that my kids have. Love you honey!!! You are a blessing and miracle in my life and our kid’s lives everyday.

Benjamin Franklin and the Golden Rule

11/17/10 | Category: Founding Fathers, Photoshoot | No Comments »

Let’s continue the conversation… In the post Unite The Clans, I asked what our founding father’s believed to be the points around which we could unite and build upon. An 81 year old Benjamin Franklin, in a letter to the president of Yale University said the following:

“Here is my creed: I believe in one God, the Creator of the universe. That he governs it by his providence. That he ought to be worshiped. That the most acceptable service we render to him is in doing good to his other children. That the soul of man is immortal, and will be treated with justice in another life respecting its conduct in this. These I take to be the fundamental points in all sound religion.”

Recently, when we took our Miracle Of America concert and seminar and performed it at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Billings, MT I felt a unity that I haven’t experienced in some time. There were many different viewpoints represented there that night but everyone caught the message of our Battle Cry of putting a side our differences and coming together as believers in a Creator.

To take this a step further, a few years back, Helen and I were introduced to an organization through the involvement of a dear uncle who’d recently passed away called Arizona Interfaith Movement. I called Dr. Paul Eppinger, Executive Director of the organization and we had lunch with him. We had a wonderful conversation about how they have brought together these leaders from these different religions to the extent that they have seen them come to each others aid when there was need over and over again. They have real discussion on real topics and really listen in order to better understand each other.

My dad has always said that there was great power in a single idea. AIFM has built their whole organization around a very powerful single idea that they ALL have built upon. It’s called the Golden Rule and virtually every compassionate, faith based organization almost universally has there own version of it. “Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.”

Enjoy this video done by AIFM about The Golden Rule and catch the spirit of what Benjamin Franklin meant when he said“…the most acceptable service we render to him is in doing good to his other children.”

Children talk about the Golden Rule from AZ Interfaith Movement on Vimeo.

This was the principle of religion that was woven into the fabric of commonalities shared by those who founded this great republic. They even taught it in schools.

What are the other two points that congress, back in 1787, stated should be taught in schools? …
